I don't believe anyone is self-made. Not entirely, at least. We all have received support at some point in our lives, whether that support was financial, emotional, or a place to rest. This is all to say that success is never done alone, and resiliency is built in community. Considering the challenges we've faced this year, nonprofits need resiliency in shiploads.
It is for this reason that I'm offering a sliding scale payment option for organizations interested in my services but uncertain they have the room in their budgets. A sliding scale payment option meets organizations where they are, and charges based on that organization's capacity. Factors that will be considered include staff size, budget, and previous contracts for similar work.
If you're still concerned that the sliding scale payment will land outside your price range, then pay what you can. During these difficult times and with the year's end around the corner, we need to lean on one another, and that includes honest conversations about what we can or cannot do. I can meet you where you're at, and if I can't, I can help you find someone who can.
From my newsletter: July 2025
So far, 2025 has been a difficult year for nonprofits and social impact organizations. The current administration's executive orders have stopped our funding dead in its tracks, and forced nonprofits into morally gray areas: Do we stand by our values of diversity, equity and inclusion, or do we wipe this belief away to continue receiving funding?
What I'm describing is only a drop in the bucket. There are so many challenging stories we've all heard from our colleagues, families, friends and neighbors. Add in the fact that we can expect another three-and-a-half years of these orders and fighting back seems pointless. But this is when we most need to pull together.
Because we'll do better together.
Here's what I'm contributing: a sliding scale payment option for organizations that need communications and marketing support but do not have the funding to cover the costs. Basically, a nonprofit pays what it can based on several factors, including staff size, annual income and annual expenditures.
Currently, we offer four services but are open to discussing other work for organizations that need the extra support. These additional services would still fall under the sliding scale payment option.
If your nonprofit or another organization you're familiar with is interested in hiring us on a sliding scale basis, please reach out at admin@sparkandthrivellc.com with the subject line "Sliding Scale."
You're not in this alone.
